Bill Meaker is a Methodist minister with a deep pastoral heart and a strong gift of teaching. He led a weekly Bible Study for over fifty years that helped many people understand their faith more clearly.
His teaching is always down to earth and Biblical. His aim has always been make theology and the Bible accessible and relevant to ordinary people, and show how they relate to the issues people face in life.
His first book, “Heaven is Closer Than You Think” has been a best seller for a number of years and has helped many people understand Heaven and the after-life in a deeper way. He has also written a number of books that focus on the Bible, as well as a short booklet on “Coping with Stress, Burnout and Depression.”
His three books of 366 daily meditations – “Day by Day,” “The Way,” and “Meditation” – have also been very popular and helpful to a wide spectrum of readers.
Bill ministered in churches in Phalaborwa, Sasolburg, Virginia OFS, and in Benoni at Northfield and Emseni. He also served as Bishop for 21 years in the Northern Free State & Lesotho District and the Highveld & Swaziland District.
Bill has retired to Cape Town and continues to write. He has been married to Jane for over fifty years. They have three children and six grandchildren.
