Description
The book of Genesis contains the origins and foundations of both the Jewish and Christian faiths. It tells us there is only one true God who made everything that exists. There are two very different accounts of how God created our wonderful world and human beings, one much older than the other. This book seeks to explore these questions more deeply.
We learn, in story form, how sin came into God’s beautiful Creation, and some of the consequences that followed. There are also stories from the early history of the world, like the great flood. From chapter 12 onwards we find the beginnings of God’s plan of salvation for the world through His Covenant people, the Jews. We meet Abraham and Sarah, and the patriarchs and matriarchs of Jewish history. They were simple, ordinary people, who sometimes made mistakes, yet through them God did great things.
We also find many lessons that are important for the Christian life.
